Why fleets care about stability

Pressure spikes are the mechanism behind a large share of long-run engine wear: bearing loading, head gasket stress, injector and piston crown fatigue. Reducing their frequency reduces the rate at which the asset consumes its own design life.

Stability also shows up operationally as smoother running, lower cabin noise and fewer driver-reported drivability complaints — a small but real factor in driver retention.
